HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Students at Spring Hill Elementary in Huntington were able to pick out coats to take home today — free of charge.
Huntington City Councilmember Teresa Johnson has been collecting winter coat donation throughout the community for months.
Her hard work paid off today, Nov. 7, as nearly 700 coats were available for students at Spring Hill Elementary, thanks to her efforts.
Volunteers set up the school gym like a retail coat store, and each child was able to pick out their favorite and take it home.
“It just makes my heart smile, it really does. Just because their faces just light up, and they’re so excited about it. Try their coat on, they get to select a coat they picked out. It just makes a huge difference, and so it’s a blessing,” Spring Hill Elementary Princ
