MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — "Each one of our bands are a thread, but we all make the same blanket when we come together," said Bob Redhawk Ruth, Delaware.
People from all over the country are coming together for the 2nd annual Lenape Speak Conference at Northampton Community College, Pocono Campus in Tannersville.
The Lenape people are the indigenous people of eastern Pennsylvania, southern New York, New Jersey, and northern Delaware.
"Up here in the Poconos, we are in what would traditionally be called Munsee Clan Lenape territory, that is, the wolf clan, the mountain Lenape," said Chief Adam Waterbear Depaul, Coordinator.
The two-day conference keeps the heritage alive through different workshops and art classes.
