Attorneys for former Côte-St-Luc mayor Mitchell Brownstein filed a motion to the Court of Quebec Thursday asking for a recount, after the longtime incumbent lost by one vote in Sunday’s municipal election .
“We are confident that the motion will be granted” due to the tight margins, Lawrence Bergman, chair of Brownstein’s election campaign, wrote in a statement.
The latest Élections Québec data shows Brownstein’s challenger, David Tordjman, received 4,196 votes. Brownstein received 4,195.
Initial results on election night gave the election to Brownstein by 50 votes.
