A police officer is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in a soured arrest after an alleged spear was thrown at officers and a hatchet was seized from a home in Sydney.
The 23-year-old officer awaited surgery overnight and remains in Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers attended a home on Werombi Road, Grasmere, in Sydney’s southwest about 5.20pm Friday upon reports a person had breached an apprehended violence order.
Police attempted to arrest a 20-year-old man before he allegedly threw a spear at officers.
He then allegedly stabbed the officer in the leg.
Other officers tasered the man before taking him to Narellan Police Station.
