NSW’s top cop has revealed he was not informed a neo-Nazi march was taking place outside Parliament House as Premier Chris Minns vowed to review protest laws to give police more legislative powers.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday afternoon, New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said a communication error within the police force meant he was not briefed that morning when the protest was taking place.

Commissioner Lanyon confirmed the protest in question lasted for about 20 minutes and that an estimate of 60 people attended.

“The Government had not been briefed on this process,” the NSW Police Commissioner said.

“Accordingly, I had not briefed the Minister of Police or government,” he said.
