After nearly three months Washington State Ferries has brought its first hybrid-electric ferry back to service, after it lost power temporarily and was sent for repair in August.
WSF announced that theWenatchee returned to the Bainbridge-Seattle route on Friday, Nov. 7, replacing the Walla Walla "after successful repairs."
The Wenatchee was pulled from the route in mid-August after arriving at Colman Dock in Seattle, where two of four drive motors on the ferry went off-line, causing a temporary loss of power, a WSF spokesperson said at the time. The power came back approximately a minute later and the vessel was able to sail to the Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility, where assessment and repairs were performed.
