A St. Catharines resident and business owner is frustrated after cleaning up an abandoned encampment, bagging garbage and putting it to the curb.

Tim Toffolo and his wife Silva observed the deteriorating encampment on private property at the corner of Niagara and Church streets , where people had stayed for several weeks.

Toffolo, frustrated with the garbage and biohazard situation, reached out to any politician who would listen.

“We got to the point where it was enough is enough, so we started phoning some councillors, we contacted the mayor’s office, regional councillors and really nothing was done,” he said.

Toffolo took matters into his own hands, clearing up the garbage. Without help, he was unsure how the garbage issue could be solved.
