SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Officials are investigating an allegation that poll workers at a Spartanburg County precinct may have been related to a candidate on the ballot at that precinct.
According to John Baucom, director of Voter Registration & Elections in Spartanburg County, the "serious allegation" was brought to the attention of his office and referred to law enforcement to investigate.
Poll managers are required to sign an oath affirming that they meet certain qualifications. One such qualification is that poll managers may not work at a polling place where they are a candidate or the ballot includes a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of the poll manager.
The people will not serve as a poll manager during the investigation and can face termination, according to Baucom.
