CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Passes to use Charlotte’s public transportation system will be free through the year for people with SNAP and WIC benefits, officials announced Friday.
Charlotte-area community members who benefit from SNAP and WIC programs can get free passes to ride the public bus, light rail system, and other services provided by the Charlotte Area Transit System (or CATS).
The free transportation passes will bee available starting Monday, Nov. 10, and will last through the end of 2025, CATS announced on Friday, Nov. 7. The passes will only be available digitally through the CATS-Pass app -- which you can download on your phone.
