SALINA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A stretch of Townline Road in the Town of Salina has been closed for months, with both ends blocked, after deep potholes and crumbling asphalt made it unsafe for drivers to travel through.
But after a year of detours and no repairs, leaders said improvements are finally coming.
For months, there was confusion and disagreement on whether the Town of DeWitt, the Town of Salina, or New York State was responsible for repairing the road. Some argued the state should pay, while others believed it belonged to the Town of Dewitt.
However, after DeWitt Town Councilor Joe Chiarenza sat down with the NYSDOT and reviewed roadway registries, they discovered that Townline Road is Salina-owned.
But a question still remains: Why is it not reopened?
