The Porterville City Council voted 4–1 at its meeting on Tuesday to adopt a revised fixed-route transit design that will restore bus service to South Porterville and expand access to key community destinations beginning January 2, 2026.

The decision follows months of study by transit consultants, who analyzed ridership patterns, city growth, demographics, and public input as part of the city’s Short-Range Transit Plan. Earlier this fall, route proposals — known as Concept 4 and Concept 5 — were presented for consideration. Concept 4 offered more frequent service but reduced coverage in some areas, while Concept 5 extended service farther north and south but resulted in longer travel times and less route coordination.
