COLUMBUS, Ohio — With temperatures expected to drop dramatically Monday and possible snow in the forecast, drivers are urged to prepare their vehicles for winter conditions.

"It's a good idea to take a look at some of the basics," said Luke Walker of Luke's Auto.

Walker said battery issues are among the most common problems drivers face during winter months.

"When a storm hits, that 32-degree mark, it takes about a third more power for your vehicle to start," said Morgan Dean, spokesperson for AAA Club Alliance.

Walker recommends having your vehicle’s fluids, belts, hoses and tires checked before winter weather arrives.

"Once snow hits, if the tires’ tread is worn down, you're going to have a harder time controlling the vehicle," Walker said.
