A familiar conversation is returning to the council table in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, where another vacant seat has prompted a new round of applications from residents hoping to represent Ward 3.
The Ward 3 position was left open following the resignation of Coun. Brock Gorrell , who stepped down effective Sept. 30. Gorrell is the second councillor to resign in less than a year, as Ward 2 Coun. Mark Jamison vacated his seat in December 2024, with council appointing Monique Antoine-Hartley as his replacement earlier this year.
The municipality opted to fill the vacancy by appointment rather than byelection, with eligible electors invited to apply. Four candidates have now put their names forward: Thomas Hopkins, Krista LeClair, Jason Page and former councillor J
