CONGRESS, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities in Yavapai County have arrested a man who was wanted on more than 100 counts of animal cruelty in the Valley after an hours-long standoff at a home in Congress.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said Domenic Anthony Asprella had been on the run for four years before he was found at a home on Grandview Drive in Congress around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
YCSO said that deputies confirmed he was there but refused to cooperate and prompted a standoff that caused the SWAT team and a crisis negotiator to be called out. Just before 12:30 p.m., he surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody.
Animal control officers were also called to rescue 39 cats and a dog that were found at the property, which he wasn’t allowed to take care of. The animals were said
