Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra’s $6.6 million home in Coral Gables, Florida, was destroyed by a fire early Thursday, authorities said.
Nobody was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported, according to the AP . The fire broke out while Spoelstra and the Heat were returning from a road game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
The fire at Spoelstra’s home was reported to authorities around 4:36 a.m., 35 minutes before the Heat team plane landed in Miami, according to Miami-Dade County records.
Video footage from Local 10 News in Florida showed Spoelstra distraught outside his 11,000-square foot home as firefighters responded to the scene. Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn was also at the scene.
