This coming week we will again celebrate Veterans Day.
November 11 marked the end of the first World War. And now it marks our nation’s annual effort to salute and honor all the veterans who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy. Veterans like several colleagues of mine. Colleagues who not only demonstrated their sacrifice through their military service, but who continue to demonstrate it through their character and the selfless contributions they make to KCCI and our community.
All month long we’ll likely see the traditional celebrations of our veterans by organizations and businesses. And while every one of these efforts to honor our veterans are great, let’s remember, gestures aren’t enough.
