GLOUCESTER, Mass. —

An 85-year-old woman was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after becoming pinned underneath a vehicle in Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:48 a.m. in the area of 99 Prospect St.

Responding crews found the woman with her lower legs pinned under the passenger side of a medium-sized sedan, according to the Gloucester Police Department.

Firefighters utilized airbags to lift the sedan and free the woman.

She was transported to the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Gloucester, then flown via medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Her condition remains serious.

According to investigators, the woman was getting into the vehicle when the driver started driving, pinning her leg underneath.
