KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding is expected to run out this week, according to the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee.

Applications just opened for the year, and the committee has already received 300 crisis applications and more than 500 regular LIHEAP applications.

"Every day this week, we have been seeing 100 plus people and trying to just work through and get people connected with the assistance," Misty Goodwin, CAC's Chief Program Officer, said. "We anticipate that we will likely be out of funds this week, and next week we will have to be connecting and calling people to let them know we are not able to pay their bill."
