KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A 14-year-old boy was sent to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Friday night, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

KPD said officers responded to Taylor Homes Road in Southeast Knoxville around 6 p.m. to investigate a "shooting with a victim." Police then found a boy behind an apartment with a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to KPD, the boy was sent to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. However, police said it is still undetermined how the boy was shot.

"The investigation is ongoing and being led by KPD Homicide and Violent Crimes detectives," KPD said.
