LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As the names of victims emerge from Tuesday's deadly UPS plane crash near Muhammad Ali International Airport, a former UPS employee is calling the three pilots heroes and honoring the legacy of her former coworker.
UPS has identified the crew of Flight 2976, an MD-11 cargo jet that crashed at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday while outbound to Honolulu, as Captain Richard Wartenberg of Northern Kentucky, First Officer Lee Truitt of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and International Relief Officer Captain Dana Diamond of Caldwell, Texas.
"There's no question in my mind that they were trying to save as many people as they could," said Debbie Boblitt, who worked in crew logistics at UPS for nearly two decades.
Boblitt said she often coordinated with Diamond at the UPS hub, though she didn't know
