New statistics from the Arizona Department of Public Safety show that since 2021, Tempe has seen a reduction in violent crime by over 230 cases by 2024.

Tempe Police Chief Ken McCoy and other city officials are proud to see this change.

“Creating an atmosphere where people feel safe – because they are safe – is vital to any community,” said Tempe Mayor Corey Woods in a statement.

At the beginning of the Nov. 6 council meeting, during the city manager announcements, Tempe city manager Rosa Inchausti presented on the changes and applauded the police force leadership.

“I would attribute this to the great leaders that we have, they are under tremendous pressure every day, and we recognize that work is what makes Tempe not only a safe city, but a caring one,” Inchausti said at the beginning
