The Louisiana Department of Health has started distributing partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds Friday to eligible recipients.
This comes after President Donald Trump's administration only agreed to release partial benefits following a judge's ruling. Advertisement
The judge ruled that full benefits should be issued to SNAP recipients, but Trump's administration appealed that decision Friday morning.
According to LDH, recipients in Louisiana received 65 percent of their usual funds.
LDH officials say the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will issue guidance to states to begin issuing 100% of federal SNAP benefits. Once the department receives that guidance and federal funding is received, LDH will administer 100% of SNAP benefits as soon as possi
