The community is stepping in to help two sisters who lost everything in Hurricane Melissa.
The young girls from Jamaica are now here in New Orleans, staying with their father, as they start over.
But a stranger saw a call to action and stepped in to help. Advertisement
"We could see physically our roof patching off piece by piece,” said Caliana Thomas.
Sisters Caliana and Iriessa describe terrifying moments as Hurricane Melissa pushed through their home.
"I thought I was going to die that day,” said Iriessa Williams.
The category 5 hurricane destroyed their house in Montego Bay, with floodwaters washing away all of their belongings.
"Since the roof kind of came off, it was raining in the kitchen basically,” Thomas said.
