A Portland man already facing a murder charge in a 2023 slaying has been indicted in an unrelated killing that occurred a year earlier, court records show.

Alexander Warren, 36, was indicted this week in the Jan. 28, 2022, killing o f Jaquan Jenkins in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood. He faces charges of second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police found Jenkins with a gunshot wound near Northwest 2nd Avenue and Couch Street just after 2 a.m., they said at the time. He was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries.

The owner of a nearby bar told The Oregonian/OregonLive that 26-year-old was shot by a man who pulled an AR-style rifle out of his vehicle and fired a single round after an argument escalated around 2:15 a.m. outside the Oregon Leather Co.
