DERIDDER, La. (KPLC) - The Beauregard Parish Police Jury lost approximately $56,000 on a Christian concert event at their covered arena in October after fewer than 200 people attended, according to Police Juror Jefferey Meadows.
The “Worship in the Boot” event was headlined by Christian artist Rebecca St. James.
Meadows said parish leaders hoped the event would raise funds for the arena and demonstrate its potential for community events.
“Out of the whole parish, we were thinking we would at least get a pretty good show. Unfortunately, we had less than 200 people show up. Therefore, our ticket sales were down, and yes, we did lose money on the event. We lost approximately $56,000,” Meadows said.
He said the community did not provide the support parish leaders expected for the event.
