HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Hawaii were surprised when their usual monthly food allowance appeared in their cards Friday morning.
A federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the Trump administration to find the money to fully fund SNAP benefits for November .
An appeals court left the order in place by the Friday deadline as it worked to review the case.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture sent a memo informing state agency directors that the Food and Nutrition Service was “working towards implementing November 2025 full benefit issuances.”
Officials in at least a half-dozen states confirmed that some SNAP recipients were issued payments on Friday.
