A Bay Area business owner with roots in Jamaica has launched a campaign to help his native country recover from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Melissa.
Cleve Minto, owner of Minto’s Jamaican Restaurant and Bar in Oakland, decided to launch a Bay Area donation drive for the people of Jamaica. He has set up a GoFundMe page and placed donation barrels at his market, restaurant and juice bar.
“I want to help,” he said. “I’m not sure how to help. I’m trying to just speak up, to see how much I can get, some help.”
