CHEYENNE — For 25 years, the Cheyenne Youth Symphony has been providing high-level musical opportunities to kids in the capital city.
CYS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving kids — specifically those in fifth through ninth grade — opportunities they may not have found in school.
Founded in November 2000 under the direction of Jaylene Willhite, they’re now celebrating 25 years of professional development and musical growth with a free anniversary concert tonight at 7.
The Cheyenne Youth Symphony is made up of 53 kids divided into two performing groups: the Prelude Symphony and the Cadenza Symphony; students are placed in the groups based on their experience and overall skill level, ensuring that each member receives the appropriate challenges and support.
