A San Bernardino County resident suspected of stabbing a Murrieta man during a street confrontation on Halloween is behind bars, following a nearly weeklong search.
Matthew John McMahon, 35, of Yermo was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Thursday, Nov. 6 on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. McMahon is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
According to the Murrieta Police Department, the suspect had been the subject of a manhunt since Oct. 31, when he allegedly attacked a man at the intersection of Margarita and Torrey Pines roads.
Capt. Jeremy Durrant said that just before 11 p.m., there was an unspecified confrontation between McMahon and the victim, whose identity was not disclosed.
