A strong cold front will push south into the U.S. late this weekend into next week, bringing a winter feel with the potential for record cold temperatures.

This system should deliver the coldest air of the season so far for most of the eastern 2/3 of the country, along with the first measurable snowfall for some parts of the Great Lakes as well.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday, heavy snow develops over the Lake Superior shoreline, and light to moderate snow coverage will increase over the rest of the Great Lakes early Saturday into Sunday evening. Lake-effect snowfall totals up to 2 to 4 inches are possible across parts of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Upstate New York.
