WASHINGTON, D.C.— Cornell University has reached a $60 million agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Department of Education, and Department of Health and Human Services to strengthen civil rights protections and expand agricultural research through 2028.

Under the settlement , the DOJ said Cornell will invest $30 million in agricultural and farming research to help lower production costs and improve efficiency for U.S. farmers. The Ivy League institution will also pay $30 million to the federal government over the next three years.

As part of the agreement, the university will use the DOJ’s “Guidance for Recipients of Federal Funding Regarding Unlawful Discrimination” as a training resource for faculty and staff. Cornell will also continue annual surveys evaluating campus cl
