NEW ORLEANS — A man and woman were shot Friday evening in the St. Anthony neighborhood, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The shooting was reported around 7:25 p.m. in the 6200 block of Elysian Fields Avenue. When officers arrived they found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police believe the incident stemmed from an altercation when "one of them discharged a firearm," a release said.

NOPD said they were taken to a hospital by EMS.
