COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A new statue of a basketball legend will be unveiled Nov. 14 outside the Schottenstein Center.

Just outside the basketball practice facilities on the northwest corner of the building, the statue will commemorate Jerry Lucas, who led the Buckeyes to their only NCAA championship title in 1960.

Lucas won a state high school championship, an NCAA championship, an NBA championship and an Olympic gold medal.

Lucas was the 1961 and 1962 National Player of the Year and then played 12 seasons in the NBA. He won a title with the New York Knicks in 1973 and was a seven-time NBA all-Star.

At the 1960 Olympics, Lucas led the team to victory as the leading scorer with 25 points in the championship game.
