INDEPENDENCE — A large fire erupted in Independence on Friday, destroying a residential building and threatening nearby homes.
The fire began just before 11 a.m. on 9th Avenue Northeast. When firefighters arrived, they found the building completely engulfed in flames, with the fire beginning to spread to nearby homes.
Fortunately, crews managed to extinguish the fire before it spread further. There have been no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
