MANCHESTER (KWWL)--Junior QB JP Elbert used his arms and his legs to lead Wahlert Catholic to a 27-6 playoff victory at West Delaware. On Wahlert's first drive of the game, Elbert opened the scoring with a TD pass to the corner of the end zone where Brody Schumacher made a diving catch. On the first play on offense following a goal-line stand by the Golden Eagles defense, Elbert went deep, connecting with Josh Oelke on an 80-yard TD pass to put Wahlert up 13-0. Late in the 2nd quarter, Elbert ran for a score to put the Golden Eagles up 20-0. The two teams traded touchdowns in the 2nd half as Wahlert avenged a regular season loss to the Hawks to advance to the 3A state semifinals in the UNI Dome.
