MOORHEAD — Hill-Murray's Elliana Engelhart scored two goals as the Pioneers beat Moorhead 6-3 in Minnesota high school girls hockey Friday night at Cullen Hockey Center.
Moorhead's Kailey Ottmar gave the Spuds an early lead with her shot from the top of the left circle. Hill-Murray's Jaycee Chatleain responded and Hannah Rychley put the Pioneers on top 2-1 with a power-play goal. Moorhead's Shay Benson buried a pass from Anna Bjorkman to tie it at 2-2 but Engelhart's backhanded goal late in the first gave the Pioneers the lead for good.
Anna Pohl, along with Englehardt's second goal of the game, gave Hill-Murray a 5-2 lead after two periods. Bjorkman pulled the Spuds within two with a third-period tally but Addy McLay added a power-play goal later in the third for Hill-Murray.
