RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - A suspect, who was wanted in Nebraska, died after a standoff in Rankin County, Mississippi.

Rankin County deputies received a request for assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service before 5:45 p.m. on November 7, 2025, in reference to an arrest warrant they were attempting to serve in the 1500 block of Shell Oil Road.

Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff's Office, said the suspect was wanted on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a gun through the Omaha Police Department in Omaha, Nebraska.

Burnell said the request for assistance occurred after the suspect began firing shots at U.S. Marshals from inside the residence. They said the suspect had barricaded himself inside a home alone.
