Jonas Schmidt’s second goal of the game came 1:24 into overtime to give Stratford a 4-3 win over Chatham on Friday night at Allman Arena.
The 20-year-old hometown forward gave the Hunter Steel Warriors their first lead of the night with less than eight minutes left in the third period. Grady Murphy and Max Wildfong, on the power play, also scored for Stratford, which has beaten the defending Sutherland Cup championships in both meetings this season.
Will Coward added two assists, and Noah Bender made 25 saves.
Max Skinner, Ian Lachance and Ewan McChesney scored for the Maroons. Blake Verberne stopped 23 shots.
