CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — A school shooting in 2005 shattered a sense of innocence in Campbell County High School.

“Someone died, and it was in my school where I was … it's just it's shocking,” one student said on the scene in the aftermath of the deadly shooting.

Fourteen-year-old Kenny Bartley entered Campbell County High School armed with a 0.22 caliber handgun. Investigators learned he intended to trade the gun for drugs. Principal Gary Seale received a tip that Bartley was armed.

In a confrontation in the office, Principal Seale asked Bartley about the weapon. The teenager reportedly responded with a defiant insult before pulling the trigger.
