THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former excise minister and congress leader M R Reghuchandrabal passed away at a private hospital in the capital city early Saturday morning. He was 75. He had served as the excise minister in the K Karunakaran ministry in 1991. He got married while serving as an MLA. He had written plays and also had acted in some. He had penned songs.
While serving as the minister, he wore guards’ khaki and entered the forest in search of illicit brewers. He was first elected as an MLA from Kovalam in 1980 and then from Parasala in 1991. He had also served as the panchayat president of Kanjiramkulam. He leaves behind his wife C M Omana and children R Prapanch IAS and R Vivek.
