OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – The Orchard Lake St Mary’s Eaglets avenged their close regular-season loss to rival Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice Friday night, claiming victory and a district title.
St. Mary’s (now 8-2) had lost a hard-fought 43-31 contest to Brother Rice (6-5) in mid-October. This time, the Eaglets took an early lead, stuffing a two-point conversion attempt to make the score 14-6 at halftime.
Orchard Lake came out swinging in the second half, picking the ball off twice and running the clock down with a scoreline of 35-6 through most of the 4th quarter. A last-minute Warriors touchdown and two-point conversion made the final score 35-14.
With the win, Orchard Lake tied the historic series 21-21. The Eaglets will travel to face Midland Dow in the Division 2 regional semifinal round
