BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Local businesses and residents are stepping up to help community members who rely on SNAP benefits, which roughly 42 million Americans receive nationwide.
A Bryan hotel general manager realized her own employees were struggling with issues related to SNAP benefits and wanted to find a solution for them and the rest of the Bryan-College Station community. Jennifer Reyes brainstormed with Hyatt House employees, who decided to partner with the Brazos Valley Food Bank and host a food drive.
“In our partnership, we did find out that there are more concerns, and the need is more food items than anything else. So, anything that is canned that can go on someone’s table would be accepted, and you can drop it off at the Hyatt House,” Reyes explained.
