ST. MARYS, W.Va. — Veteran St. Marys football coach Jodi Mote has seen the Blue Devils overcome a 1-2 start to the 2025 season through hard work that’s led to consistent improvement.
On Friday, in the regular season finale against Wirt County, the Blue Devils continued a trend of workmanlike efforts that have sparked the turnaround.
Eli Wilson rushed for 170 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries to key a ground game that produced 344 yards, and quarterback Jeremiah DeMoss completed all four of his passes for 120 yards and a score to lead Class A No. 8 St. Marys to a 48-15 win against No. 9 Wirt County at Bill Hanlin Stadium.
“We have hard-nosed guys that have spent a lot of time in the weight room and they’ve continued to develop as the season has gone on,” Mote said.
