NIAGARA, Wis. — A man died Wednesday afternoon after crashing his truck into a garbage truck on a Niagara, Wisconsin street while fleeing from a Niagara Police officer.

The officer had attempted to do a traffic stop about 1:11 p.m. Wednesday when the other driver took off at high speed and swerved his truck into oncoming traffic in the 1000 block of Main Street, hitting a GFL Environmental vehicle head on, according to reports.

While aid was immediately provided, the man was pronounced dead at the crash site, a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice states. The DOJ did not provide a name or other information on the driver.

No one else was injured in the incident.
