MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - Emergency crews responded to a crash in Middlefield on Saturday morning.

First responders were called to the area of Route 147 at Middlefield Road after a reported crash that completely knocked down a utility pole, officials said.

Now, the utility pole is resting on the power lines and another pole blocking the road.

Police confirmed this incident is a hit and run, a driver was traveling in the area when they suddenly struck the poles and took off.

Police said they are still searching for that person.

One household is without power at this time.

The public is asked to avoid the area.

No further details were released.
