A 3rd straight poor game by the Portland Winterhawks, and they pay the price against the Wenatchee Wild, owners of the league’s worst record, going down 6-3 for the 2nd straight loss.
6-3 actually makes the game look better than it was from Portland’s point of view. The Wild went up 4-0 early in the 3rd before the game got a little chaotic, with a lot of penalties and Portland eventually scoring 3 power play goals.
Shaun Rios and Blake Vanek each scored their first 2 goals of the season for the Wild, who were having their Parents’ Weekend. Tobias Tvrznik continued his strong play in goal this season, although his numbers were hurt by the late Portland power plays.
Portland now makes the 5-hour overnight trip home, for a Saturday matchup with Spokane, who will have a 5-and-a-half hour ov
