Barpeta: In between the festive mood of Raax celebrations, tragedy struck Howly town on Friday night when a devastating fire broke out, reducing nearly ten shops to ashes. The incident occurred barely 100 meters away from the Howly Police Station, creating panic among local residents.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly as most of the affected shops were wholesale medical stores stocked with large quantities of medicines and chemicals. The intensity of the blaze was so high that thick smoke could be seen billowing across the area, forcing nearby shopkeepers and residents to evacuate in haste.
