A 72-year-old Florida mayor was allegedly attacked by his much younger ex-boyfriend outside his home and dragged across a street during a failed attempt to reconnect.

Dean Trantalis, Fort Lauderdale’s Democratic mayor, revealed the shocking claims about the violent ordeal as he testified in court against his former beau, 34-year-old Daniel Curran, on Friday.

The couple had been in a relationship since March and social media posts show that they got engaged in July, months before Trantalis filed for a domestic violence injunction against Curran in September.

A brawl broke out between the two men in front of Trantalis’ home on Nov. 1, when Curran allegedly pushed his ex-lover as the mayor fought back, according to NBC South Florida, citing court records.
