For Mark Robins, today’s top-of-the-table clash with Coventry City will feel - regardless of the result - like a point has been proved to the one man who doubted his managerial credentials enough to pull the plug on his seven and a half year tenure.

Most will be heartened to see him continue to succeed (today’s game at the Bet365 Stadium aside) while Stoke supporters feel that they’ve finally found the man to breathe new life into their club.
