NEWARK – Bree Moffett started the game with black kinesiology tape on her right quadricep, one strip down and three across. She hit the turf at Rullo Stadium time and again, her stick in constant entanglement with the opposition.
She kept getting up – with an occasional wobble or limp – and she kept playing. The game didn't end on schedule. Her Smyrna Eagles and the perennial powerhouse Cape Henlopen Vikings played to a 0-0 draw over the 60 regulation minutes of the DIAA Division I field hockey title game and its first 10-minute sudden-death overtime period.
